Up in Roses

Up in Roses

You’ve held onto this flower too long

It has grown thorns and vines around your heart

And as it constricts, you welcome the pain

Because you still see it as the presence of the Prince

The Prince who fooled your heart

But you fail to see that your flower is now diseased

It’s rotting and welting

And with it, your heart

Its stem droops in reminiscence and its petals are stained

So grant it life and release it to the rain

Garden your thoughts

Your world will soon come up in roses
